I am on the editorial board of the British Journal of Cardiology.

Teaching and supervision

I am the undergraduate Programme Leader for the School of Medicine. I have been involved, from the early stages, in developing the underpinning principles of the new school.

Research interests for potential research students

  • Students in difficulty support and remediation
  • Falls and syncope
  • Autonomic function testing

My research was in syncope presenting as falls to the Emergency department; the prevalence of carotid sinus syndrome in those presenting with falls and the use of pacemakers in those with falls masquerading as syncope.
I have been involved in the development and delivery of e-portfolio for Foundation doctors across the UK and Malta. In particular, I was involved in the design and delivery of the Horus and TURAS e-portfolio platforms.

I have previously worked as a clinical representative on the Newcastle University Board of Medical Studies and convenor for final year medicine during the redevelopment of the curriculum at the time of the inception of the Queens Campus Durham.

I have developed expertise in the care and support of doctors who require training support and presented this work nationally.

I am a clinician with an interest in falls syncope and dizziness.
