Michelle Parkes

I joined the University in 2018 straight from clinical practice. I have completed my Postgraduate Certificate in Education which enabled me to gain experience of teaching on Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) approved courses as part of the teaching hours which are an essential requirement of the course.

I currently teach on BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing Practice delivering various modules and leading on The Evidence Based Practice (NUR 110) and Practice Placement modules (MHN 101).

I also teach on BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing Practice specifically modules containing mental health leadership content.

My clinical background is in Forensic Mental Health, in which I have substantial experience in various nursing and leadership roles. During my time in clinical practice I had the opportunity to engage with a diverse range of CPD activities and courses which enhanced my clinical and vocational skills as well as awarding me an MSc in Transformational Leadership. As a result of this clinical and managerial experience, my areas of expertise include risk assessment and management, self-harm intervention, personality disorder, service development and organisational change.
