Lecturer in Children's and Young People's Nursing Practice
I am new to the world of academia however bring with me a wealth of knowledge from my background working as a Paediatric Nurse.
I have been qualified and registered with the NMC for nearly 13 years and worked within a number of different specialties including oncology, community nursing, palliative care, acute care and diabetes. These different and diverse fields have ensured that I have a wide range of skills which I am keen to share with students.
In my previous post, I was employed as a clinical nurse educator, teaching and assessing both medical and nursing students in paediatric clinical areas. This role has allowed me to create, and take part in, lots of different teaching sessions including bedside teaching, classroom lectures, online facilitation and simulation.
I have held a paediatric clinical skills qualification for the past two years and during the Covid-19 pandemic, worked both within paediatric A&E as well as on a general children’s ward.
Children’s nursing has provided me with a career that has been challenging, rewarding and very worthwhile.
