Music Lecturer

Having spent many years working as a gigging musician with bands such as The Coyote Men, running promotion companies in the guise of The Funky Slug and Magic Carpet Productions; DJing and recording critically acclaimed records with bands such as Former Cell Mates, I now focus mainly on producing and composition.

I have written scores for films such as The Solution, worked on below-the-line marketing campaigns for the likes of Proctor and Gamble, and have recently completed records by D.L Burdon, The Zu Zu Cats, The Earthquakes, and Nagare.

Teaching and supervision

The bulk of my pedagogical activities focuses on creative sound applications in multimedia environments and music performance.

Research interests for potential research students

I can help research students with compositional strategies in film, game and animation settings as well as assisting in the realisations of audio projects and events.

Research

My main areas of research explore how the continued democratisation of the recording process helps or hinders creativity and/or quality and how this affects a musician’s perception of self.
