I am a Senior Lecturer in Criminology and Programme Leader for BSc (Hons) Criminology. I am also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
My expertise centers around desistance, criminological theory and policing, with my teaching being focused in these areas.
I am currently completing my PhD which is funded by the ESRC and explores how people reformulate their identity as they transition through the desistance process and cease offending.
I am also the Scheme Manager for the Northumbria Local Appropriate Adult Scheme which works to support vulnerable offenders in police custody.

I also supervise undergraduate students on the SOC332 Social Science Dissertation module. I offer supervision in the areas of youth crime, criminal identities, desistance and policing.

Research
My research interests centre around the desistance process and how an individual reformulates their identity as a part of this process.
I have previously conducted research exploring the transitions of first time mothers as they enter motherhood which explored their identity reformulation. As part of my PhD, I am currently exploring identity reformulation in relation to how young offenders come to stop offending as part of the desistance process.
