Senior Lecturer in Biomechanics and Performance Analysis

I hold a BSc and PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. I taught engineering, computing, and sports science at the University of Sunderland in two periods, between working in industry and for the Open University in an Assistant Director role.

I have a keen interest in sports, in particular, triathlon (swimming, cycling, and running). As well as a competitor, I'm also a qualified referee, coach (Level 3), and coach tutor for Triathlon England.

Teaching and supervision

Courses:
Modules:
  • Biomechanics (Level 4 and 6)
  • Research Methods (Level 5 and 7)
  • Research Project Supervision (Level 6 and 7 and PhD supervision)

    Staff and postgraduate CPD:
  • Research Methods, Statistics
  • SPSS (Statistics)
  • Graphical Analysis and Statistics (R)

Research interests for potential research students

  • Biomechanics – in particular data and performance analysis.
  • Experience data analysis in horse riding, swimming, cycling, running, rugby union and league, football.
  • Research methods – statistical analysis and data visualisation techniques.

Research

All areas of data analysis and visualisation, generally helping colleagues from all faculties plan and analyse their research projects.
