I am a Senior Lecturer in Education and my experience is wide and varied. I qualified as a secondary sciences teacher and taught all three sciences to A Level before moving into Special Educational Needs. I subsequently worked as a Peripatetic Special Needs teacher in both primary and secondary schools and then as a senior manager in an MLD Special School responsible for curriculum and staff development in Key Stage 3 and 4.
Following this, I was appointed Head Teacher of an international secondary school. Shortly afterwards I became Principal of an international school for pupils aged 3-18 years.
I joined the University of Sunderland as Programme Manager for the PGCE Overseas for Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait and I have seen that programme develop into the PGCE Education which is now worldwide. I was instrumental in developing the MA International Education in response to feedback from PGCE overseas trainees.
In my current role of Senior Lecturer, I am focused on ensuring that Independent Distance Learners (IDL) and final year students on MA Education and MA International Education are given the opportunity and skills to enable them to get the most out of the learning experience and transform their work to the highest standard possible.
