Senior Lecturer English for Academic Purposes

I am a Senior Lecturer in English for Academic Purposes (EAP). I am the co-ordinator of the EAP for BSc Nursing Top-up and EAP Library Liaison for the Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellbeing.

Teaching and supervision

I am currently module leader for the Level 1 and Level 3 English for Academic Purposes modules as well as Discussion and Intercultural Competence.

Research interests for potential research students

I have a professional membership of BALEAP which is the British Association of Lecturers in English for Academic Purposes and this is my current research area.

I regularly attend events and conferences as a presenter as well as an observer in order to maintain current relevant knowledge in the field.

Research

I am currently studying a Professional Doctorate in order to further investigate how to facilitate change within an organisation when navigating a transition from traditional paper-based pedagogies and assessment methods to a digital approach.

My first degree is in Business Management and having worked in office-based environments for several years I decided on a career change and studied for a teaching qualification in English as a Foreign Language in Prague. I taught English abroad in the Czech Republic and Italy for several years before returning to the UK. I began working at the University of Sunderland in 2002 as an Academic Tutor and achieved a permanent post in 2008 after completing my masters Degree in Teaching and Learning.
