Senior Lecturer in Education

I have 21 years experience in Education. Before taking up the role of Senior Lecturer in Business Education at the University, I developed my teaching experience from FE lecturer to secondary teacher and then pastoral and department leader. I had whole school responsibility for enterprise education and alternative education.

My various roles since joining the Faculty of Education and Society have included Diploma PGCE Programme Leader, PGCE Business Programme Leader, Teach First Business Strand Leader, Combined Studies (Education Studies) Strand Leader and Employment Based Routes to Teaching Manager.

I have taken an active part in Teaching Unions and I'm currently a member of UCU and Joint Branch Secretary and Treasurer for the National Education Union, Sunderland Branch.

During my time in school, I was elected to serve a term on the National Executive of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers. This involved reviewing education policy and implementing resolutions passed at National Conference.

Teaching and supervision

I teach on BA (Hons) Education Studies and PGCE Business Secondary Education.
I also teach on undergraduate courses leading to award of QTS and some Masters modules in Education.
