Senior Lecturer in Education

I qualified as a teacher in 1995 and have worked as a teacher in primary schools in York and Durham before joining the University of Sunderland.

I have held several senior management positions in schools including being a KS2 Team Leader and Phase Leader, as well as subject leadership roles.

I have also worked as an Advisory Teacher specialising in working with children who have English as an additional language. I completed an MA in Education, a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice and I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Teaching and supervision

I am Programme Leader for PGCE School Direct and also teach on BA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS and PGCE courses.

I am also the Professional Studies subject leader and teach Primary Science.

I have an interest in teaching children who have English as an Additional Language. As an Education Senior Lecturer, I also have an interest in Primary Science pedagogies.

I have previously worked as a Teacher and Advisory Teacher for over 20 years. I have experience of Senior Management in Primary Schools and have also been a Primary School Governor.
