Brain Awareness Week 2024

Topic - Schools and Colleges

Celebrate the wonders of the human brain with us during Brain Awareness Week!

Each year activities take place across the globe to increase awareness of brain science and the impact it has on our everyday lives.

Here at the University of Sunderland we’re delighted to invite Year 12 and Year 13 students to our ‘Understanding the Brain’ event.

The day will begin with a lecture called ‘Welcome to Your Brain.’ This will introduce students to neuroscience via a tour of the brain, taking them for a lobe-by-lobe journey to explore how different areas contribute towards our cognition and behaviour. Plus, our passionate lecturers will break some myths surrounding the brain during the session.

Following the lecture students will take part in workshops including:

  • Building the Brain
  • Seeing is Believing
  • Eye-Witnessed It
  • Tricking the Brain

The sessions will be delivered by our expert academics, who all have their own specialist areas and passions.

Book now to secure your place!

This event is currently fully booked. We are hoping to run another event later in the year. If you would like to be added to a waitlist please contact student.recruitment@sunderland.ac.uk.
