Online symposium

Since the UK is moving toward the goal of becoming a science and technology superpower by 2030, we must take every possible step to cultivate an enabling environment for harnessing AI's advantages and staying at the cutting edge of technological advancements. This entails achieving effective regulatory frameworks that foster innovation while mitigating the challenges posed by AI. While AI presents new regulatory challenges, it raises questions about whether existing legislation and regulatory approaches can adequately address these challenges, as AI is currently regulated within the framework of existing laws. Thus, it becomes essential to explore the legal challenges and implications of regulating artificial intelligence.

It is an insightful online symposium arranged by Pardis Tehrani, Head of the Law, Society, and Vulnerable People Research Hub (LSVP) and Kieran Doran, under the purview of the LSVP Hub at the Faculty of Business, Law, and Tourism.

It explores the legal dimensions of (AI) with distinguished experts from around the globe. It will delve into the latest perspectives on AI governance, its applications in the UK, legal analysis of the EU AI Act, the EU approach to AI regulation, and a legal examination of AI's impact on intellectual property.
