Professional Mentoring Scheme

Our Professional Mentoring Scheme gives you the opportunity to spend time with a working professional, getting an insight into what they do and how they got there.

What is Mentoring?

The Sunderland Futures Professional Mentoring Scheme links Sunderland students with an individual working within a role or sector of interest, providing access to the experience and knowledge to get ahead and develop skills needed in the workplace after you've graduated. Advice shared could cover anything from writing CVs for a specific industry through to searching for graduate jobs and work experience.

Our mentors come from a variety of sectors, and all have valuable experience in their field. If you want to be a step ahead of the crowd, it is time to participate and get yourself a mentor.

Why get a mentor?

Learning from a mentor's experience and knowledge can be a great opportunity. Not only will you gain a clearer idea of the direction you want to go in after graduation, you will also be able to identify your strengths and possible areas of development required to be successful.

Mentoring is also a great way to enhance your CV and develop transferable skills such as communication and time-management and can increase your professional network which can lead to other opportunities.

How do I get involved?

  1. To get started, simply complete the registration form
  2. When we receive your application we'll begin the process of matching you with a mentor
  3. Once you have been matched with a mentor, you will be sent an email with your mentee induction pack.
  4. Along with this, you will receive your mentor's contact details and you will be asked to get in touch with them
  5. Finally, you will meet with your mentor (on up to five occasions).
