Can I buy a pass for discounted public transport?

The University of Sunderland has teamed up with Network Ticketing to provide all full-time University of Sunderland students with the opportunity to purchase a significantly reduced price travel ticket.

Tickets are valid seven days a week from the beginning to the end of services each day (not valid on night buses).

You have two options:

  • Option 1: Local ticket - £535, valid for travel in Tyne and Wear
  • Option 2: Regional ticket - £945, valid for travel in Tyne and Wear and the wider North East region

Get Around Local ticket

Travel within Tyne and Wear across the whole of the Nexus Metro system, the Shields Ferry, Arriva North East, Go North East and Stagecoach buses and on Northern rail services between Sunderland and Blaydon.

Get Around Regional ticket

Travel within Tyne and Wear across the whole of the Nexus Metro system, the Shields Ferry, Arriva North East, Go North East and Stagecoach buses and on Northern rail services between Sunderland and Blaydon.

Plus: Travel across the wider North East region - Northumberland, Durham and Teesside - on Arriva North East, Go North East and Stagecoach buses in Hartlepool and Teeside.

Who's eligible

The Get Around discount is available to full-time second, third and fourth-year undergraduate and full-time postgraduate students. Students can be based in Sunderland or at a partner college and is based on your term-time address.
