Published: 24 July 2020

The Get There Scholarship is for eligible full-time students in their first year of study at the University of Sunderland, based at City Campus, Sir Tom Cowie at St Peter’s Campus and our Partner Colleges.

The Get There travel ticket enables (i) free public transport through Tyne and Wear or (ii) the North-East region:

  • If you have a term-time address which is within Tyne and Wear, you'll receive a 'local' travel ticket
  • If you have a term-time address which is in the North East but outside of Tyne and Wear, you'll receive a 'regional' ticket
  • Eligible Partner College students who are studying at East Durham College and Bishop Auckland College will automatically receive a regional ticket

All travel ticket orders will be checked against address details held on our records for accuracy and eligibility.

Travel Ticket validity

The Get There travel ticket is valid from 12 September 2020 to 11 September 2021. This allows the valid ticket holder to travel with the ticket at any time; evenings, weekend and during holiday periods and not just for commuting to the University of Sunderland or Partner College. We offer the extended validity of the ticket to compensate for any delays experienced in the receipt of the ticket at the start of term.
