I’m a mature student, what support is there for me?

Home / Help and Advice / Support / On-campus support / What help is there for mature students?

Our Wellbeing team are here to support you and help you manage through times of difficulty. They are open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm and you can find them at Student Support Services Reception (Edinburgh Building Level 1, City Campus). Alternatively, you can call them on 0191 515 2933, or email them at wellbeing@sunderland.ac.uk.

They also offer a range of wellbeing events and workshops to support you throughout your student journey.

Samaritans Sunderland are part of our Wellbeing team, extending support for anyone who may be struggling with feelings of loneliness or isolation. They’re here in person to offer drop-in sessions based within Student Support Services one Monday a month from 10am - 4pm.

Our Mature Student Society is also a great way to lean on the support of your fellow students. They meet regularly at the Chaplaincy Centre at The Sir Tom Cowie Campus at St. Peter's.

As a mature student, you might benefit from our dedicated Returners to Learning Progression Scheme. For more information please email progression.schemes@sunderland.ac.uk or call the Student Helpline on 0191 515 3000.

If you wish to be considered for direct entry to a different year of a course, please contact the Student Helpline.
