The David Puttnam Media Centre

Visiting scholars

We welcome visiting scholars from other countries. For a small monthly fee, we can provide you with access to our research facilities, including workspace, internet access and campus library. You'll also be entitled to free entry to all research events (including conferences and research seminars) and any of our taught courses taking place during your visit.

We can also write letters of support to assist you in applying for travel grants or visas, as well as offer help with finding accommodation. If you are interested in coming to the University of Sunderland as a visiting scholar, please email Professor Clarissa Smith,

CRMCS is based in the David Puttnam Media Centre which is located on the north bank of the River Wear on the edge of the City of Sunderland, within easy reach of all amenities. We are also five minute walk from the Metro link to Newcastle, which has major arts venues, and National Rail links to the rest of the UK.
