pFACT (Project Financial, Accounting and Costing Tool) is the software programme used by the University of Sunderland to calculate the full economic cost (fEC) of any project. A pFACT should be set up for every research funding application in advance of the submission.

Purpose of pFACT

  • pFACT (Project Financial, Accounting and Costing Tool) calculates the full economic cost (FEC) of any research project
  • The pFACT process provides institutional approval to go ahead with your submission
  • pFACT forms are important in managing expectations. The University does approve research projects that do not cover their FEC – but it is vital that the relevant people are aware in advance of the financial commitments that will be required

If you are an existing member of staff who had access to FECAF, you will automatically be granted access to the pFACT system providing you have attended a training session.

If you are experiencing problems or require assistance with a pFACT relating to a research project, please contact the Funding Development team. For help with any other externally-funded projects (eg commercial) please contact the Business Development team.
