Get Into... series

Our Get Into… sessions are designed to give sixth form and college students the opportunity to 'get into' their subject area and learn more about university life at Sunderland. Currently these are carried out virtually, however when Covid restrictions allow, we will be able to offer some sessions on campus here at the University. We can offer sessions in a range of formats such as open access events, presentations, pre-recorded webcasts and bespoke interactive Q and A sessions – whatever suits your needs.

Get Into sessions can include a range of topics. Some topics are more appropriate to deliver at certain times in the academic year and so we can discuss your specific needs and what you'd like to achieve. Some of the things we can offer are:

  • Hands-on subject taster
  • Subject specific presentation about the courses available and career routes
  • Student life and budgeting sessions
  • Student finance talk
  • UCAS guide
  • Personal statements workshop
  • Study skills sessions
  • Virtual campus tours
  • Interaction with our current students

Groups of students may be able to take part in more than one subject taster session, or simultaneous subject taster sessions can be organised for large groups interested in different areas.

We can offer sessions on a wide range of subjects so come and talk to us about:

Arts and Creative Industries (including Performing Arts, Fine Art, Glass and Ceramics, Design, Fashion, Film and Media, English, Journalism)

Business, Law and Tourism (including Events Management)

Education

Engineering (including Manufacturing, Electronic and Electrical, Automotive, Mechanical)

Pharmacy (including Biopharmaceutical Science, Biomedical Science, Physiological Sciences, Cosmetic Sciences)

Psychology (including Counselling)

We may also be able to offer more specific taster sessions in areas linked to your curriculum. Please contact us to discuss your options.
