Develop understanding and appreciation of dance practice (in the widest sense of the term) through the examination of selected choreographers (main work post-1960s) which may include Christopher Bruce, Mark Morris, Akram Khan, Mathew Bourne, Wayne McGregor, Russell Maliphant and the examination of associated relevant specific works. Study key aspects such as lineage and the main influences on style; distinguishing features/key principles; genre; subject theme; ways of working/ methods of construction. Demonstrate how theory informs practice in the creative application of study materials and research and engage in discussion/evaluation of relevant live or video material. Research a choreographer of your choice for assessment.
