MA Fine Art takes over

Home / Study / Discover Sunderland / Arts and Creative Industries / MA Fine Art takes over

Published: 20 May 2020

The Arts Council Collection is the most widely circulated national loan collection of modern and contemporary British art in the world. Sunderland Culture is one of only three regional galleries and museums to present and curate exhibitions drawn from the Arts Council Collection (ACC) as part of the Arts Council Collection National Partners Programme (NPP).

Excitingly, our MA Fine Art students have been given the unique opportunity to deliver a series of takeovers as part of the programme over the next two years. Responding to the themes and works within the Arts Council Collection exhibitions and projects, students will curate and exhibit their own work alongside the exhibitions.

The takeovers provide our students with the opportunity to present new and existing work to a diverse audience. Sunderland Culture will support the students from inception through to delivery, focusing on professional development,  local and national network building, evaluation, and generating further opportunities to exhibit locally.

In light of the need for social distancing, the first takeover – in response to the exhibition #ReceivedWisdom – was delivered as a digital takeover on our Instagram account account. Follow #ACCTakeover and view the story highlights.
