Overview

The identification of the root cause of problems is fundamental to an engineer’s skill set. Having the ability to understand a problem and prescribe a suitable solution is not necessarily a mysterious art.  Armed with a relatively simple set of tools and techniques, it is possible to solve approximately 90% of the issues that a business may encounter. 

 This course is aimed at introducing the participants to a useful step by step structured approach to analysing problems, understanding their underlying causes and implementing permanent solutions. In addition, the course will deal with ensuring that the problems are closed off and reduce the potential for recurrence or duplication in similar products or processes.

Course structure

This one-day course is designed to be highly interactive and will cover the topics required by a problem-solving team. These will include but are not limited to:

Problem Solving Process
This 8-step process can be applied to virtually any problem
Problem Structure and Root Cause Identification
Pairwise comparisons
5 Why’s
Ishikawa
Check sheets and measles charts
Pareto Analysis
Deploying solutions to similar products and processes
Closing the problem-solving process
