Build on your knowledge and skills. Learn while you work. Contribute to the development of others as a practice educator.
This course is an opportunity for qualified social workers to build on their knowledge and skills, while contributing to the development of others by becoming a practice educator.
These qualifications will prepare registered social workers for the role as practice educator for pre-qualifying social work students. It will enable registered social workers to demonstrate that they are working to the requirements of the Practice Educator Professional Standards for Social Work (PEPS).
This course is delivered through face-to-face sessions in the Reg Vardy Centre at our Sir Tom Cowie campus. The course will last three months, with four sessions taking place overall.
Candidates must have an allocated Practice Educator Assessor (who must be qualified at Stage 2 or equivalent) and must take a pre-qualifying student on placement during the current academic year. Most candidates take a University of Sunderland student, but this is not compulsory.
Candidates must successfully complete Stage 1 before beginning Stage 2. If a candidate has completed Stage 1 elsewhere, they will need to evidence this before commencing Stage 2. Further advice can be given if needed.
We don’t currently display entry requirements for United States. Please contact the Student Admin team on studentadmin@sunderland.ac.uk or 0191 515 3154.
Applicants must be registered social workers with a minimum of 2 years post-qualification.
