This four-month module aims to equip those who work in general practice and treatment rooms and who wish to develop their knowledge and skills in this area. It covers consultation skills and history taking in a general practice context, as well as the fundamentals involved in treatment room nursing, such as health promotion and ECG venepuncture. You will be classroom based for the taught sessions and will work alongside a clinical lead in practice to further develop the knowledge and skills learned.

This course is delivered by University of Sunderland Clinical Sciences lecturers and is taught over four full days over a four-month period at the University of Sunderland. Each day uses a variety of teaching and learning methods including interactive workshops and will focus on a specific topic that you can then consolidate in clinical practice. You will be assessed via a reflective portfolio developed with a mentor.

We usually require applicants to be health care professionals. You should be working in a clinical setting where your work involves delivering Treatment Room services.
The fee for this course is £375.
