I decided I wanted to set up my own business in the second semester of my final year at university, and made an appointment with a careers advisor. He informed me about the Enterprise Place, who have taught me a great deal and made running my own business a reality.
The Enterprise Place offered me lots of helpful services, including a six-week course that I took whilst working on my final project, covering everything from finance and insurance, to business plans, invoices, and more. All of this was new to me. I was also offered free office space which I use twice a week, and one-to-one meetings with business advisors.
I now run my own UK based animation and design company called Risk of Bear. I have joined forces with another animator – a fellow graduate from the University of Sunderland – to start our own animation studio together, also with the support of the Enterprise Place. It is extremely challenging, but it just makes it that much more rewarding when things go right. Any mistakes fall on you, but so do all the victories!"
