I didn't want to go anywhere else; not only is it close to home but I was very impressed by the previous student feedback about the course on the website. I studied my undergraduate degree here and was well supported so I knew the same support would be offered when studying a postgraduate degree. The university is vibrant and is committed to helping their students find successful careers.
The support from lecturers is amazing, they are very motivated and want their students to do well, which enhances our chances of gaining employment. It’s a very hands-on course, you learn how to teach primary subjects, you learn the theory behind children’s learning and you’re also filled with inspiration from the lecturers who are also past teachers themselves. The best part about the course is being on placement, applying those learning theories to real-life situations in the classroom.
Everyone at the University is helpful, from the lecturers to the friendly library staff. There's also access to a wide range of resources to help with studying as well.
You should engage with your course, gain help from your lecturers (that’s what they are there for) and take advantage of the numerous opportunities and experiences available to you, but most of all enjoy it! The time really does fly. Before you know it, you’re walking across that stage in your gown receiving your degree.
I'm currently a primary school teacher at a local primary school, with aims of becoming a successful subject leader, and my experience studying at the University of Sunderland was unforgettable."
