I currently work as a Copywriter at TK Maxx, where my main role is to write the website content. I love it as it’s fashion-based (and I also get first pick of the products!). However, I also get to carry out editing and publishing, which means I check for errors in the copy before it goes live. The best part is that it’s based in the studio, so I get to see all the shoots and work alongside the stylists and photographers.
One of the highlights of my degree was having the chance to create a 100-page print magazine for my dissertation. This has really helped when getting a job, as every interviewer I’ve shown it to has been blown away that I produced it on my own – I think this is an opportunity quite unique to the University of Sunderland.
Another great aspect of the course is its NCTJ accreditation, this has definitely stood out to employers. Although the course was fashion-based, having a variety of skills such as Media Law and Public Affairs has really enhanced my employability. I use a range of elements daily, for example, accuracy, which is particularly important in my role now."
