I couldn’t do my job without my degree. Journalism was the perfect course to prepare me for the communications industry and having the skills and experience from going on different work placements was what helped me get my job. Having the chance to create my own magazine was a great addition to my portfolio and really showcased my creativity and writing skills to my current employer who were really impressed with it – it was something they had never seen before.
As a Communications and Culture Executive, I am expected to create outstanding internal and external communications which effectively engage with our people, clients, listeners and UK press. I also work closely with our Group management team to help us develop a culture that lives up to our vision and values, and our mission to do ideas, relationships and results better than anyone else.
I control our internal communications which include weekly executive team bulletins, create engaging content for our employee intranet and internal social media sites and update and develop our policies, procedures and guidelines. I maintain our corporate website and social network platforms with regular engaging and creative content, with a brand new corporate website launching this month which is a project I have been working on for the past year. I work with the People Team to create and implement engagement and culture initiatives across the company, including surveys, projects and competitions. I also write radio performance reports for clients and produce and issue press releases in line with relevant brand guidelines, regularly communicating with Global.
I also spoke at our company conference in front of almost 200 people to tell them about our new corporate website which will hopefully launch this month."
