Case Study

Nick Payne

Studying at Sunderland gave me a clear vision.
I knew I wanted to be a cameraman before I started my degree and Sunderland had the best offer for me, both in terms of the facilities and the expertise of lecturers. What I learnt there gave me the building blocks I needed to embark upon my career.

The facilities at the university are state-of-the-art and industry standard - therefore the same as what I am now working with professionally, so the skills I learned were simply transferred.

Since leaving I've gone on to work on a range of productions from The Bill and Top Gear to Where the Heart Is and Make Me a Supermodel and I'm now working freelance. Even after all these years I can still hear my lecturer Shafik Obrai's advice every time I film an interview."
