Carol Reed

Durham, UK

BSc (Hons) Learning Disability Nursing Practice

Carol Reed supported young people and adults with learning disabilities for the past 18 years and was even in a managerial role before having children. Now, since her children grew up, Carol has the time to enhance her skills and knowledge by studying BSc (Hons) Learning Disability Nursing Practice.

The facilities at the University of Sunderland are excellent. I like the idea that PCPI's (Patient, Carer and Public Involvement) are involved in supporting, teaching and building confidence to become a competent and compassionate nurse. I find the academic staff are approachable and passionate about what they do which comes across in lectures and makes learning easier.

I would recommend the University of Sunderland to other students because there is a lot of supportive staff here to offer help when needed, such as financial support through to academic support at the libraries. I highly recommend attending an open evening because academic staff and current students attend who can offer support and beneficial advice.

Studying at the University of Sunderland challenges you to find your hidden potential."
