Case Study

Adam Cornell

As BMus (Hons) Jazz, Popular and Commercial Music student Adam Cornell progressed on the North East live music scene he kept coming across great musicians who had studied at the University of Sunderland. He decided to try it for himself.

As I progressed on the North East live music scene I kept coming across great musicians who had studied the BMus (Hons) Jazz, Popular and Commercial Music course at Sunderland and I felt like trying something new.

There are so many great aspects of the course for me to choose the best. The tutors are very inspirational and helpful, Sage Gateshead is an excellent space to play and watch bands and the other students always seem to be in the right mindset, ready to challenge themselves and support each other. I often find myself in conversations with people sharing stories and tips about music.

I often recommend the University to other students and my advice to prospective students would be to do what you feel is right. I'm still in my first year but already the skills I’m learning from the course have allowed me to improve in many aspects of my profession.

This is a great place to be for people who want to develop their skills as professional musicians."
