I enrolled on this course to fulfill a journey that begun 5 years ago, which started as an interest in the subject and overtime became a passion. As someone once said, "it’s not really the end of the journey that matters, but the journey that matters in the end".
At my age (I’ll be 62 when I graduate) I was more than a little nervous at the prospect of coming to university, but was always made to feel at home by fellow students and tutors alike. I was particularly aided on more than one occasion by the pastoral guidance I received from my Programme Leader, Anne Simmister.
I have to admit that I have found the content of the course a challenge, but an endeavour worth pursuing. I feel I was able to contribute in class and was honoured to represent others in my role as Student Representative.
I always enjoy the lectures, which are delivered in an interesting and stimulating manner. The overall feeling I have been left with is one of satisfaction. The environment is very comfortable and the facilities, such as the library and various cafes, are excellent.
I qualified as a counsellor in 2010 and have since set up my own practice and worked within the PCT and am currently working, voluntarily with Tyneside Mind. I am hoping that, equipped with this degree, my job prospects will be enhanced.”
