Case Study

David Smurthwaite

I came to the University of Sunderland at first because of the location as I lived 4 miles away. However, I began to realise I made the right choice because of the valuable support I received from my tutors and disability services. During my first year I had a stroke following an operation which affected my studies and ability to learn. Without the aid and support of the staff from disability services, tutors and the library staff I would not have been able to return to studies and achieve my degree.

The state of the art services provided by the University and online resources are in my opinion second to none and if I ever wish to return to learning, the University of Sunderland will be my primary choice without question.”
