Study Abroad Outgoing Students

Study Abroad is an incredible experience that allows you to study for one or two semesters of your second year at one of our exchange partners.

We have also introduced some short term summer options so if one semester is not for you then you could still gain an international experience for anything from two weeks to three months.

The time you spend abroad replaces the time you would have spent in Sunderland so there is no need to extend your studies. Plus the credit gained from the time spent abroad will be transferred back to your records in Sunderland.

Here is how the study abroad programme will fit into your studies:

  • Once registered you continue to be a student of the University of Sunderland during your time abroad.
  • Tuition fees will still be payable to the University of Sunderland. There will be no tuition fees payable to the host university.
  • Study Abroad scholarships of £1,000 available subject to your household income.
  • Student Loans available Eligible for a Student Loan and access to the University Hardship Fund will not be affected.
  • The Study Abroad team assistance will assist you with your application and guide you through the process.
