Search the range of courses that have places available during Clearing.
If you've already applied to study with us, confirmation of your place will usually happen when summer examination results are released or when you have met all of your conditions. Keep an eye on the UCAS Hub for updates on your place.
Clearing is for:
There are several ways you can get involved to find out more about Clearing.
Clearing Explained is an online event which will guide you through the Clearing process to support your application for a September 2022 start. Join us on Thursday 18 August and Friday 19 August – Clearing advisors will be available on Live Chat from 8am-7pm on the Thursday and 8am-5pm on the Friday to discuss your options. If you'd prefer to come on campus for support with your application, we're offering a drop-in event at 11am-5pm on Thursday 18 August and 11am-3pm on Friday 19 August at Prospect Building, Sir Tom Cowie Campus at St Peter's, where staff will be on hand to support.
You can also join us on campus at our next Open Day on Saturday 20 August from 10am-3.30pm. Explore the University's fantastic campus, meet current students and staff, and learn more about your chosen course. If you're travelling from outside of the North East region, we may even be able to reimburse some of your travel costs!
If you can't make any of our Clearing events, you could book a campus tour, where you'll be guided around the campus by one of our student ambassadors or a member of our friendly student recruitment team. You could also check out our Virtual Open Day and discover more about life at Sunderland and what we can offer you.
We offer a range of generous scholarships and bursaries to financially support you while you study. The deadline to apply for our scholarships and bursaries has been extended to noon on Wednesday 31 August 2022 (Please note applications for our Medicine Bursaries closed on Sunday 31 July 2022).
While some scholarships are automatically awarded, such as our Off Campus Fee Waiver, others require you to make an application and meet certain criteria. This includes the University of Sunderland Scholarship, where we will award up to 130 scholarships to our students demonstrating the greatest increase in academic achievement between their GCSE and Level 3 qualification results, or the We Care Bursary for UK ‘home’ care experienced or estranged students studying full-time. Scholarships can include credit to spend through the StudyPlus online store or cash to help with living costs.
Find out more about our scholarships and bursaries, including how to apply and application criteria.
Did you know if you apply to us through Clearing, you'll be guaranteed accommodation at the point of application?
As a new student starting with us in September, we'll guarantee you a place at one of our available accommodation sites – one less thing for you to think about.
You'll be placed at Panns Bank, which is a University-managed site situated on the River Wear, opposite the University’s riverside campus at St Peter’s. Near to shops and amenities, and with excellent transport links around the city and the surrounding areas, Panns Bank is in a great location for undergraduate students.
Whether you want to join the next generation of key workers, contribute to world-leading research, or create a new vision for the future, we have a course that's right for you. Explore our courses using our Clearing course search and apply today.
We offer a range of courses across our five unique faculties. Many offer cross-faculty collaborative working and interprofessional learning, as well as placement and work experience opportunities that give you the edge employers are looking for.
