The University has been ranked twice in the new Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject

The University of Sunderland has secured its global standing once again in the 2026 edition of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject.
The World University Rankings data sees Sunderland’s Business and Economics, as well as its Social Sciences programmes, placed in the latest tables.
Business and Economics was ranked 801-1,000, while Social Sciences sits in the 1001+ position.
Professor Alex Hope, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Faculty of Business and Technology, said: “It's great to see our Business and Economics programmes ranked by Times Higher Education for the first time.
“This recognition reflects the hard work of our colleagues and gives us a solid foundation to build on. We're committed to continuing that upward trajectory and strengthening our position in future rankings.”
