Following the closure of the National Glass Centre (NGC), work is taking place to rehome and reuse University-owned equipment and items from the building. This is in line with University’s charitable status which requires it to ensure that its assets are managed and/or disposed of carefully and responsibly. In line with such a requirement, the University has today put a number of items up for auction.

Some items will be offered for sale through an open online auction, providing a fair and transparent opportunity for interested buyers to acquire them. The online auction will be opening today and the auction site can be viewed here(opens in new tab).

Specialist equipment will be donated to another charitable organisation, Sunderland Culture, for use in the planned Glassworks Sunderland project and to establish glassmaking facilities for artists in the period before the new facility opens.

The University continues to follow all planning rules and guidelines in relation to the former NGC building.
