Our Secondary School Based partnerships

We work in partnership with approximately 12 schools on the PGCE Secondary Education with QTS (School Based) course, across secondary settings. Each of these schools is part of a School Based Alliance, which is led by a lead school.

School Alliances

If you're studying on the PGCE Secondary Education with QTS (School Based) course, you'll apply to one of our Alliances, and following a successful interview, be placed in one of their host schools. You'll have an additional placement in one of the partner schools within the Alliance.

Laidlaw Trust

Host schools include Academy 360 (Sunderland), Excelsior Academy (Newcastle), Oxclose Community Academy (Washington), and Sedgefield Community College (Sedgefield).

Castle View Enterprise Academy

Host schools include Castle View Enterprise Academy (Sunderland).

UTC South Durham

Host schools include UTC South Durham (Newton Aycliffe).

Whitburn Church of England Academy

Host schools include Whitburn Church of England Academy (Sunderland), Harton Academy (South Shields), Boldon School (South Tyneside), Monkwearmouth Academy (Sunderland), Jarrow School (South Tyneside), and Hebburn Comprehensive School (South Tyneside).
