The latest simulation technology will support your paramedic training. This includes high-fidelity manikins, remote video systems, and our state-of-the-art simulated ambulance.

Our custom ambulance simulates a working environment, including advanced learning and assessment tools. It lets you take part in clinical simulations across a range of realistic settings in the region.

We use a variety of manikins to support your learning. These including:

• SimMan patient simulators (SimMan 3G, SimMan ALS, Sim Junior, and Sim Baby)

• CAE Apollo and Caesar manikins

• Realistic SimBodies.

The SimMan and Apollo manikins can mimic psychological responses like blood pressure, pulse, and drug reactions. This helps you build the confidence and skills needed for real-life emergency care.

Our Living Lab has a unique immersive simulation room. Here, you can take part in realistic scenarios in a safe and supportive setting. It is designed to feel as close to real life as possible, letting you build confidence and practise clinical skills without pressure.

Next door, there is a debrief room. Your group can watch the scenario live on screen and take part in feedback and discussions afterwards. This is a great way to learn from each other and reflect on the experience together.

We have several mock hospital wards where you can practise in realistic settings. These are located in the Living Lab and at Helen McArdle House.

Our mock hospital wards include:

• A standard ward
• A mock children’s ward with interactive baby and child manikins
• A dedicated mental health ward. This includes bedrooms, a day room, a seclusion room, and a treatment room.

Our Anatomy Lab supports modern anatomy teaching. You'll cover gross and living anatomy, osteology, and clinical imaging.

You’ll have access to many Adam Rouilly anatomical models showing all body systems. Portable ultrasound equipment is also available for hands-on learning. A standout feature is the Anatomage Table, a high-tech, touch-screen “virtual operating table.” This helps you understand anatomy in a practical and interactive way. It includes clinical content like radiology, pathology, embryology, and histology.

We work with our Patient, Carer and Public Involvement (PCPI) participants. These are real patients and carers who take part in training and assessments. They help create realistic scenarios through simulation. This brings your learning to life and prepare you for real-world practice.
