Secondary schools

We design our activities for your Year 7-11 pupils to inspire and encourage them to consider higher education. They provide an insight into university life, subject options, and future careers.

Upcoming outreach opportunities

We're now providing opportunities for some additional schools that meet our targeting criteria. This will enable a wider range of pupils to benefit from our outreach activities. This includes local state schools with a high proportion of pupils eligible for free school meals.

If you'd like to find out more about our new outreach offer and make a booking, please email pre16activities@sunderland.ac.uk(opens in new tab).

Destination Uni

Destination Uni introduces university through a range of assemblies, workshops, and interactive sessions. We design these activities to support informed choices while providing an insight into university and graduate careers.

STEMM outreach

Our STEMM outreach activities introduce pupils in Years 7-11 to graduate careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine.

North East Raising Aspiration Partnership (NERAP)

NERAP is a collaboration of the five universities in the north-east of England. Our vision is to improve Higher Education progression in the region and to ensure that young people are fully supported to make informed decisions about their future. Working alongside key stakeholders, we focus our outreach activity where we can achieve added value collaboratively. We create targeted and progressive interventions for students currently underrepresented in Higher Education.

Each university in the region delivers a wide range of activities to support Higher Education decision making. Together, we coordinate a range of collaborative activities for students in primary and secondary education, and specific targeted support for underrepresented groups. The Partnership also delivers events for teachers, advisers, parents, and carers to support information, advice, and guidance given to young people across the region.

Uni Connect

All north-east universities and colleges are working together as part of the Office for Students' funded Uni Connect programme. The aim is to increase progression to Higher Education and provide impartial information and support to young people, parents, teachers, and advisers.

This is delivered in target schools across the region to students in years 9-13 and complements our own programme of activities.
