About Dr Abbas Alkhidir
I graduated from the University of Khartoum, Sudan, where I also earned my PgDip, MSc, and later a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Northumbria University in 2014. Having studied in different countries, I bring cultural competence and a strong ability to engage diverse cultures, enriching both teaching and learning experiences and contributing meaningfully to research.
I earned my PhD from the University of Sunderland, with a dissertation titled ‘License to Practice: Reconsidering HR as a Profession, Role, and Function’. Through a non-dual ontological and epistemological perspective, my research aimed to explore and analyse the attitudes and perceptions surrounding HR as a regulated profession. I examined the elements of professionalism within HR, as well as HR professional identity formation.

My teaching interests include human resource management,
international human resource management, strategic leadership, and qualitative research methods.
