About Alison Blake

I qualified as a nurse in 1988 and worked in cardiology as a newly qualified nurse, which ignited my passion for all things 'heart' related. I moved to the Freeman Hospital in 1990 to work and subsequently manage the heart and lung transplant unit, which allowed me to be involved in cutting-edge innovative treatment development.

Following on from my clinical career, I took up a post as a service improvement manager for the cardiovascular network, which allowed me to lead projects across the region and expand my understanding of the wider NHS.

My long term passion for teaching led me to move into education in 2012 working with medical students while on clinical placement.

I retired in 2021 and returned part-time with a desire to re-enter nurse education to pay back to the profession I have loved for 40 years.

Throughout my career, the most important aspect has been providing high-quality patient care, and I have always felt privileged to do so.
