About Allison Wilson
I joined the School of Education and Society in 2019 as a Senior Lecturer across a range of primary education courses. Prior to this, I had 25 years' experience of teaching across a range of first and primary schools in South-East Northumberland. This includes a year seconded to the Local Authority as a Literacy Lead Teacher and, most recently, 10 years as a Primary Head Teacher.
I believe my experiences across a variety of roles offer me the insight to support trainees in their journey to becoming successful teachers. I have mentored and coached many trainees and teachers, new to the profession, as a mentor and school leader to ensure they receive the best support to improve their own learning and teaching as they establish themselves in the classroom.
I lead the BA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS, supporting students and mentors through their teaching on campus and training in schools. My role allows me to support students in other school experience phases across many primary education undergraduate/postgraduate courses.
Research
I am actively involved in research regarding ITAP (Intense Training and Practice) in primary education.
