About Dr Christabel Ihedike

I hold a PhD from the University of Sunderland. Prior to my doctoral research study, I obtained an MSc in Public Health from the University of Bedfordshire. Immediately after my doctoral research, I joined the University of Sunderland as a Lecturer in Public Health.

I teach a range of public health modules across the MSc Public Health.

I am an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in recognition of attainment against the UK Professional Standards Framework for teaching and learning in higher education.

I am a recipient of several awards and scholarships, including the State Honours’ Award, Nigeria President’s National Youth Service Corps Honours’ Award (highest honours’ award conferred to a Nigerian Youth), Plus Award for serving and supporting students in Sunderland. I have also worked with Nigeria’s Ministry of Health as a Scientific and Public Health Officer.

I am eager to teach, and research collaborations and activities that heighten health and wellbeing.

I am also passionate about outreach and non-academic activities across different societal sectors and enjoy giving health, environment, and sustainability talks.

In my spare time, I play Scrabble, Chess, and love music and travelling.
