About Claire Froggatt

I graduated with a BSc (Hons) Podiatry in 2006 and immediately began working in the NHS. I started in Newcastle PCT and then moved to County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, where I worked for over eight years.

In 2015, I transitioned to education, becoming the professional lead for the Podiatry course at New College Durham. I developed a passion for creating innovative learning opportunities for students, such as using a state-of-the-art headset camera for remote clinical placements.

I then moved into a curriculum management role, overseeing younger students as they began their health education journey. After that, I returned to the NHS as a practice placement facilitator, where I was responsible for placement opportunities and pastoral care for a wide range of healthcare students. While this was a fulfilling and challenging role that I loved, I was excited to join the University of Sunderland to help develop the new BSc (Hons) Podiatry Apprenticeship. I was immensely proud to bring our amazing profession to such an outstanding university. The apprenticeship program is now onto it's 3rd cohort and continues to be a great success.
