About Dr Rachel Ramsey
I'm a researcher interested in testing theory, developing methodology, and using what are conventionally identified as "academic" findings to resolve real-world problems.
My work in the Institute for Economic and Social Inclusion draws on my varied career history in academia, research impact, and consultancy. From 2018 to 2021, I was responsible for research impact at the University of Sunderland, including the delivery of the impact component of the REF 2021 submission.
I have a discipline-agnostic interest in research. This is reflected in the wide range of topics I've studied, from theoretical linguistics and network theory to vaccine hesitancy and education spending.
Research
I've undertaken qualitative and quantitative research in the private sector and academia, working with children and adults from age two onwards. I've worked with partners including PBS, No Outsiders, the BBC, the Royal Society for Public Health, Health Education England, the Cabinet Office, the NSPCC, and the British Library.
