I am Programme Leader for Psychology with Integrated Foundation Year.

• Gut-brain communication: I am interested in the bi-directional communication between the gastrointestinal system and the brain. Broadly, my interests include investigating associations between gastrointestinal health and mental health conditions, wellbeing outcomes, interpersonal relationships, and coping. I'm also keen to explore the potential influence of gastrointestinal health on emotion recognition.
• Psychosocial impact of chronic health conditions: More broadly, I am interested in the psychosocial experiences of individuals living with chronic health conditions - how their interpersonal relationships are affected, which coping strategies they employ, and whether they have experienced stigmatisation.

I am primarily interested in health and wellbeing.

My PhD was concerned with how, and why, gastrointestinal conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease impact psychosocial factors such as subjective wellbeing and social relationships/support. The experiences of individuals with these conditions were explored using a mixed methods approach.
