About Irma Kock
I am a Lecturer and module leader for the BSc (Hons) Nursing (Top-Up) on campus and online(opens in new tab), and for the FdSc Registered Nursing Associate.
I gained my BA in Nursing and Postgraduate Certificate in Paediatric Nursing in the Netherlands.
In the UK, I completed a BSc (Hons) in Midwifery Studies and a Certificate in Cross-Cultural Communication.
Presently, I am undertaking an MPH in Global Public Health.
I am registered with the NMC as an Adult Nurse.
Teaching and supervision
I am a module leader for several modules both on campus and for Sunderland Online:
- BSc (Hons) Nursing (Top-Up): NRS304 Facilitating Learning and Development in Practice
- BSc (Hons) Nursing (Top-Up): HNU300 Management and Leadership in Care Delivery
- FdSc Registered Nursing Associate: TNA104 Holistic Nursing Practice
I also supervise dissertation students for BSc (Hons) Nursing (Top-Up): NRS303.
Interests
Cultural adaptation, cultural awareness, cross-cultural communication, and culture shock.
I also have an interest in international nurse education, global public health, equality and diversity, and wellbeing.
Research
I am currently undertaking a VCTF project implementing an innovation aiming to support international students in dealing with culture shock. Alongside the impact is being researched.
