About Jake Adamson
I have worked in the North-East region for the past 8 years as a Cardiac Physiologist following my graduation from the University of Sunderland in 2018 with first class honours in BSc Healthcare Sciences: Cardiac Physiology. I spent time working with a range of professionals and specialised in cardiac devices, currently holding accreditation with the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) as a Certified Cardiac Device Specialist.
From February 2026, I've been employed on a full time basis at the university. I've been involved in teaching at the university for a number of years as an academic tutor but have made the move to full time teaching to help build on the fantastic foundations of the Cardiac Physiology programme and to share my knowledge and experience with the next generation of students coming through.
Teaching and supervision
The majority of my teaching is on the Cardiac Physiology programme working alongside colleagues to deliver sessions which are suited to our specialist knowledge to provide the best possible experience for students. This specialist knowledge can also be applied across other health related courses
Interests
I have a particular interest in cardiac devices (Pacemakers / Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators (ICDs) and Cardiac Resyncronisation therapy (CRT). This interest stems from personal experience on the subject which has led to a higher level of passion to deliver the best possible care and optimisation for device patients.
