About Dr John Dixon-Dawson
I have over 30 years of senior management and teaching experience developed during two careers in public sector management and higher education.
I am a Senior Lecturer in Investigation. I am also Programme Leader for MA Investigative Management. This role, coupled with my extensive senior management experience in higher education, means that I am at the centre of our activities relating to course development and student experience, as well as ensuring that our offering is fit for purpose in terms of university requirements and national subject benchmarks.
Teaching and supervision
I teach a number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. I am module leader for MA Dissertation and Leadership in Investigative Management.
I also teach some courses in the areas of leadership and management development.
My teaching expertise is in management, strategy and leadership development.
As a personal development coach, I contribute to this area of our corporate activity to enhance the potential of our students undertaking further study.
Interests
My primary area of research is studying business needs and employee aspirations relating to management development.
I currently support PhD students studying leadership development and business improvement.
Areas of expertise
My main area of expertise is in the teaching of investigative management strategy and leadership development.
As a dissertation and project supervisor, I deal mainly in the area of strategic management and organisational change.
As a personal development coach, I work with clients studying our corporate courses to enhance their personal development and help them to better understand their contribution to organisational life and place within that complex and rapidly changing business environment.
Further information
I am actively involved in two major north-east charities as a volunteer, using my skills and expertise for the benefit of the local community and enhancing the development and skills of others.
